1766 Pitt Halfpenny Token. Betts-519, W-8350. Copper. VF-35 (PCGS).;This is a well balanced Pitt halfpenny token with even deep olive-copper patina and overall bold definition. Numerous wispy handling marks are noted, but solely for accuracy as the appearance is pleasing for the assigned grade. Although probably intended as a commemorative medalet, many Pitt tokens in this large size format circulated in the American colonies, as evidenced by metal detector finds. Given the popularity of William Pitt with the colonists and his significance in American colonial history, survivors have been avidly sought by generations of collectors.;
