1887 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-64 (PCGS).;Satiny orange-gold surfaces support a bold to sharp strike throughout the design. The Mint struck just 6,000 circulation strike three-dollar gold pieces in 1887, this being one of the scarcer issues from its decade. With only 140 to 180 Mint State coins believed extant (per Bowers and Winter, 2005), it is likely that much of the mintage remained undistributed until the coins were destroyed through melting. Fully Choice in quality, this is a particularly desirable survivor that is sure to appeal to discerning bidders.;
