1900 Liberty Quarter Eagle. Proof-64 Cameo (PCGS).;This beautiful Choice specimen has satiny, fully impressed devices set atop reflective fields. Radiant golden yellow surfaces are overall smooth with eye appeal to spare.<p>The Cameo Proof gold coins from the turn of the twentieth century are among the most visually striking, even though the finish was not considered desirable by Mint personnel, who preferred brilliant surfaces. Only the earliest strikes from fresh dies would bear the Cameo effect, which wears off as more coins are struck from the dies. Long considered one of the more available Proof quarter eagles, 205 examples were ultimately produced in 1900, a distinct increase over previous years. Estimates range from 100 to 150 examples extant. Only a comparative few have been awarded the Cameo designation, making these among the more coveted examples for the issue. This shimmering example is certain to grace an important holding of classic Proof gold.;
