1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-187, B-16. Rarity-2. AU-55 (PCGS).;This is an exceptionally nice 1800 BB-187 silver dollar. While this is among the more easily obtainable die combinations for the 1800-dated issue, it is remarkably difficult to find in high grades as here. Both sides are richly toned in a blend of mauve-gray and olive-gold patina, with the surfaces retaining much of the original finish. While predominantly satiny, there is a touch of reflectivity noted when examined at an oblique angle. Softness of strike is typical for the type and is generally confined to the eagles head, breast and wings at the center of the reverse; otherwise the detail is bold within the context of the assigned grade. BB Die State V, the final state before these dies were retired. This important and attractive Draped Bust dollar is sure to be a welcomed addition to any collectors cabinet, either as a highlight in an advanced type set or as part of a specialized early dollar collection.
