拍品描述 COLCHIS (Kolchis). Black Sea Region. AV Stater (4.10 gms), ca. 1st Century B.C.-1st Century A.D. BOLD VERY FINE.,Lang-pl. 1#5f. Imitating Alexander III (the Great) (336-323 B.C.) and Lysimachos (323-281 B.C.). Type with hammered edges. The obverse features a stylized head (perhaps Alexander the Great) facing right with four pellets to right and two to left; Reverse: Stylized Nike standing facing flanked by three pellets on each side. Located in what is now primarily western Georgia in the Eastern Black sea and where Jason and the Argonauts traveled on their epic journey to retrieve the fabled golden fleece from Aeetes, King of the Colchians. An interesting piece deserving of further research. ,BOLD VERY FINE.
