Struck to commemorate Prince Adolph Frederick being named protector of the Royal academy, March 17, 1747. Remarkable for the level of preservation seen here as the surfaces exhibit only a few of the lightest small marks and this medal is as fresh as the day it was struck. High brilliant luster is present throughout with some added character from lava red toning spots around the periphery and in obverse exergue.
