After the appointment of a British resident in Agartala, which had become the capital during the reign of Krishna Manikya, machine-struck coins, dated in the Bengali era, and apparently struck in the UK, were issued. It is clear, however, that these coins were not intended for circulation, as only British Indian coinage is reported to have been in use within the state.
