Here is a newly discovered Canadian rarity that is likely to catch collectors off guard for two reasons. First, while the census for all 1865 $1 Royal Canadian Bank banknotes hasnt been made public, it would appear based on research that no more than a handful of the year and denomination are available to collectors. Secondly, and much more importantly, this note has a Port Hope overprint. The Charlton reference does not even include Port Hope as an overprint possibility for this bank. In fact, only The Bank of Toronto and The Commercial Bank of Canada list Port Hope as an overprint possibility.

The note offered for auction tonight is a very attractive PMG Very Fine 20 Net Restoration. It would appear that this note has the perfect combination of rarity, condition, and location. Expect spirited bidding.
.PMG Very Fine 20 Net. Restoration...
