This is a very well defined, high grade example of a famous Carson City Mint rarity. Boldly toned in a blend of olive, pewter and steel gray patina, both sides are quite attractive for a circulated 1870-CC half dollar. The detail is quite sharp with just a trace of light high point wear that does little more than define the AU grade from NGC.The present sale notwithstanding, the rare 1870-CC Liberty Seated half dollar is particularly elusive in the finest circulated and all Mint State grades.
