Series 471 (September 30, 1947-March 22, 1948 printed by Tudor Press) was very similar to Series 461 in several ways. Obviously they are similar in appearance and were similar in use, but here is where the similarities end. Series 471 is a much more rare and desirable series. The replacements are especially rare in Uncirculated condition and even high circulated grades. We do not know, but suspect that far fewer specimen sets were prepared than for Series 461. Amazingly, more than twenty sets remain in the Smithsonian Institution Numismatic Collection and the museum of the United States Army Finance Corps Museum. One set--with the rare $5 denomination torn out and missing--is in a private collection. Here we have an amazing set and great opportunity for replacement collectors.

This 5 Cents replacement is rare in all grades. Approximately eight replacements reported overall. One is About Uncirculated, the others in much lower grade. This is by far the finest known.,From the Paymaster Collection.
