As Baker-70P which is said to be 55 mm, the size of the originals, and noted as unique. An enigmatic piece made from, or perhaps modeled from, the 1797 Halliday medal. Obviously old, but not contemporaneous to the originals as gutta-percha, an early organic plastic, was not used in the West until the 1840s. The size discrepancy is ascribable to the way the gutta-percha shrinks as it cures. An attempt was made to smooth the rough appearance of the fields, giving them a crudely chased appearance, but it was not particularly successful. We also note an intriguing doubling effect to portions of the design and legend. The reverse is blank, except for an incised W (or perhaps M) near the center, and there are the natural voids and depressions inherent to the crude casting process used to produce this piece. All in all, an intriguing and historic piece of memorabilia relating to our nations first president. Likely unique.<br />,,,
