Half a dozen Saxon Talers of Friedrich III Gerog and Johann (Dav-9707), a denomination also known as a Klappmuetzen, are the foundation of this lot and make for a compelling study group of the type. Grades vary, with most having some problems and/or significant circulation. Other coins in this desirable group include a Saxe-Weimar "Sons of Johann III" Taler (Dav-7523) dated 1608, which along with a Polish Grossus dating to the middle of the fifteenth century add to the depth of the offering. Also included are several smaller fractional Taler coins. Tooling and other problems are present on many of the pieces, however these are fairly scarce coins and specialists will be rewarded for inspection. Approximate retail value of $1,800. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. Average gradeFINE.
