新疆省造光绪银元七钱二分银币 极美。COINS. CHINA - PROVINCIAL ISSUES. Sinkiang Province: Silver ”Sungarei” Dollar, ND (c.1898). , struck by Otto Beh of Esslingen, Germany, 26.81g, 40.05mm (Kann 1031; L&M 829). Edge knocks, black spots and light scratches from past cleaning, otherwise very fine and extremely rare. Sold as is, not subject to return. Recent research reveals that the Sinkiang “Sungarei” dies were made using generic punches and hubs in common with the Anhwei, Chekiang, Fengtien and Heilungkiang series of dies manufactured by Otto Beh during the period 1897-99. As a total of 260 dies were made, not counting the rejects, the wear and tear on the punches and hubs explains the softness or lack of details on some of the patterns of the above series. The smaller denominations of the Sungarei series have been found in heavily circulated condition. Clients interested in this lot should note that both the major third-party grading companies, PCGS and NGC, have not felt comfortable enough to guarantee this coin when it has been submitted to them in the past. However, the extensive independent research that we have undertaken has strongly suggested that coin is genuine. Please note that, in accordance with point 10 in the Conditions of Sale in the printed catalogue, this lot may not be subject to return for any reason based on the opinions of third-party grading companies.
