A superior Choice example of one of the leading rarities in the Indian half eagle series of 1908 to 1929. Vividly toned in handsome reddish-gold patina, both sides are also highly lustrous with an exceptional satin finish. The strike is very sharp. The 1909-S is an underrated condition rarity, with the vast majority of survivors grading no finer than MS-63.
