Peoples Republic of China. Year of the Rooster Lunar gold Proof 500 Yuan (5 ounce) 1993 PR69 Deep Cameo PCGS, KM517. Housed in a PCGS oversized holder. Serial # 76 of a tiny mintage of only 99 pieces. Essentially flawless, with stunning cameo contrast. A superb example of the rare, and popular, lunar 5 ounce gold series. The first example of this issue we have seen, and we can find only one other example having sold at auction. Champion Hong Kong sold a piece, in the original packaging, in their October 13, 2010 sale at $63,322. This is the only example certified of this type by PCGS, with none certified finer by NGC.
