South Vietnam, photo model of an adopted design for 5000dong, dated 31.7.1974, black and white photo, the obverse shows a phoenix at left, geometric designs centrally, additional vignette of Phan Dinh Phung (1847 - 1896, a famous guerilla fighter against the French) stuck at right, the reverse shows a temple at left and a pheonix vignette stuck at right, a very interested in piece as this design is very similar to the 1000dong issued with Truong Cong Dinh (Pick 34A) which was never issued, the 5000dong that was finally adopted was very different and featured the famous leopard design instead. Also, since phoenixes and dragons usually feature within a series, one can only assume there is also a 10,000dong of a similar design featuring the dragon and with another famous Vietnamese freedom fighter, uniface obverse and reverse, the obverse has a 3cm tear just above Phan Dinh Phung (2)
