Cast Copy 1801 Thomas Jefferson Inaugural Medal. After Julian PR-2. Copper over White Metal. Mint State.44.5 mm. A relatively sharp, glossy, and attractive example of the very rare Jefferson Inaugural medal that sells for tens of thousands of dollars, known only by a small handful of strikes in silver and white metal, but unknown in copper. This was acquired by the consignor from a large series of similar casts of other U.S. Mint medals that must have dated from the mid to late 19th century.
