BOLIVIA. Large Silver Ingot, ND (ca. early 17th Century). VERY FINE.Dimensions: 13.5 x 5 x 3.5 in; Weight: 64 lbs. Stamped with fineness [IIU]CCCLXXX (2380/2400 = 0.9916 fineness) stamped lower center, manifest number DCCCCXXVIII stamped upper center right, "AR" Monogram to left with "QVARTAS" above. The reverse bears what appears to be the certificate number from the original salvors "A 39 85". This massive large format ingot displays light attractive mottled tone. The stamps are deeply impressed on the face with the hand cut monogram and other features are deep and well defined. The surface exhibit moderate corrosion as would be expected for such an item. A pleasing example of the type with interesting features.Purportedly recovered from the Nuestra Senora de Atocha, sunk 6 September 1622.
