Trinidad, Colorado. Victor Coal & Coke Company. 1894 5 Cents. PMG Fine 12.No. 1450. "Red-brown printed face. Title curves along top. 5 in ornate frame at left. "FIVE CENTS" in small panel below. "FIVE CENTS" in panel at center with large faint golden 5 protector centered. Monogram at right. Red stamped serial number 1450 at bottom left of center and top right. Ornate mustard colored back with "5 FIVE CENTS 5" across. Average circulation for the grade but with still boldly printed design elements. The earlier of two different 5 Cent types we have seen from this issuer." Victor Coal & Coke was founded in 1888 and eventually was bought out by Colorado Fuel & Iron in 1899. This is the only example we have sold from this issuer; we sold this same note for $705 in our 2016 ANA sale.
