Glossy dark olive with contrasting golden brown highpoints. Evenly granular on both sides, but sharp and attractive. Denticles surround most of the obverse, and the strings of the Irish harp manifesting horizontally below the obverse portraits ear reveal the presence of the typical Irish halfpenny host.
