Organized in the early 1830s, the Bank of Pensacola failed in the early 1840s like many Florida-based banks of the Territorial period. This institution had briefly suspended specie payments from June 1837 through January 1839 before folding in 1843. Rated as an R-5 rarity in the Benice text, <em>Florida Paper Money: An Illustrated History 1817 - 1834. </em>
