Uncut Sheet of (6) Weed, California. $5 1929 Ty. 2. Fr. 1800-2. First NB. Charter #9873. PMG Very Fine 30. Serial Numbers 1-6.Often seen among the ranks of unusual place names; this community in Siskiyou County was home to the First National Bank of Weed (Charter# 9873) until the 1950s when the bank was acquired by a larger one out of San Francisco. Undoubtedly saved as a souvenir by someone with the relevant means and connections during the 1930s. One can disregard without any hesitation the comment for "Splits" applied by PMG and the evidence of past (albeit haphazard) storage seen in the margins between the constituent notes as anyone who collects California Nationals with ample determination will easily recognize the opportunity this sheet affords at auction as it has been off the market since 2013 where it last sold for $4,993.75. Bid according should you wish to avoid the dreaded sting of regret and hindsight once it crosses the auction block. PMG comments "Splits."From the Eric Agnew Collection Part IV.
