INDIA. Mughal Empire. Mohur, AH 1042 (1632/33). Akbarabad Mint. Shah Jahan I. NGC MS-63.Fr-792; KM-Y-256.1. A lovely Mint State example, delivering sharp details and appealing brilliance, with an appeal far outstripping what is normally encountered on this type. As a type, this Mohur from Akbarabad is one of the most difficult styles of Mughal gold, with production of the type spanning only three years, AH 1041-43. Most examples display damage to one degree or other, making this an impressive specimen that should doubtlessly command much attention, particularly when considering the impressive pedigree.Ex: Central Museum Lahore (Sold 2/1937) with copy of sales receipt.
