The absence of issued notes of this denomination means specimens or proofs are the only way of completing the set and this is an opportunity not to be missed. The Chinese-American Bank of Commerce, which showed great promise to a bright future, was relatively short-lived due to its falling out with the Nanking Government.

In April 1929 the Hankow branch of the Chinese-American Bank of Commerce accepted an investment of over 1.5 Million Yuan from the Gui Military Fraction which opposed the Nanking Government. The Nanking Government confiscated the investment and ordered the Hankow office to close. Other offices were also severely affected when news of this spread throughout the country and in November of 1929 the bank went under the administration of the Ministry of Finance. All branches ceased operation the following year.

NoFrom the Norman Lin Collection.
