民国十三年中国实业银行壹百圆。样票。(t) CHINA--REPUBLIC. National Industrial Bank of China. 100 Yuan, 1924. P-529s. S/M#C291-5. Specimen. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. (t)This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Canada, Mexico, Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States. Accordingly, any client who wishes to take delivery of this item within the United States will be subject to a 27.5% import tariff for China manufactured items, a 25% import tariff for Canada or Mexico manufactured items and a 35% import tariff for Russia or Belarus manufactured items. In addition, a processing fee of 0.3464% (minimum $31.67 / maximum $634.62) will apply. Please note, this is not, and is not intended to be, a complete description of the applicable import tariffs and buyer remains fully liable for and agrees to promptly pay all tariffs and fees relating to the import of these items into the United States and neither the auctioneer nor any consignor will have any responsibility to pay any applicable tariffs or fees. Please consult your tax adviser with any questions. Furthermore, any lots subject to an import tariff will be shipped directly from our Hong Kong offices and shipments to the United States will be subject to our international shipping chart. The One Hundred Dollars is the final and most impressive note of the entire 1924 series. An imposing large size note compared to the other denominations, this denomination is printed in royal blue colours on light green and orange underprint. The Great Wall, a constant feature of the series, is found on the reverse. A fresh looking note with good centering, straight borders, and sharp corners, which is not easy to find, given its large size. The 100 Yuan, and also the 50 Yuan, are both extremely rare and missing in most collections.

The National Industrial Bank of China was conceptualized by the Beiyang Government in 1915 and eventually opened for business in 1919 with headquarters based in Tientsin. It obtained the right to issue banknotes in 1920 with its first issue being released in 1922. Its main business was to fund the Kuomintangs projects around Shanghai. The Bank merged with the Bank of Communications in 1935 and survived the Second Sino-Japanese War by moving its headquarters to Shanghai, Hankow, Hong Kong, and eventually to Chungking. It was eventually incorporated into the Peoples Bank of China in 1958.NoFrom the Norman Lin Collection.
