ANNAM. Silver 5 Lang Bar, ND (ca. early 20th Century). VERY FINE. KM-Unlisted; Sch-Unlisted. Weight: 187.62 gms. 公甲 and 中平 stamped on face and long edges, 省 stamped upper end and 首 stamped on lower end, Tiger stamped in middle of face. This interesting ingot, without ruler or location, exhibits an unusual stamp of a tigers head in the center of the face. Similar to the larger 10 Lang bars depicting a winged deer head that were probably produced in the early 20th Century. A charming example with a pleasing appearance perfect for the numismatic scholar looking for a fun research project.
For examples of the 10 Lang bars with the above described winged deer head please refer to the Stacks Bowers & Ponterio April Hong Kong 2012 Auction Lot # 22014 and the Stacks Bowers & Ponterio April Hong Kong 2014 Auction Lot # 30015. No
