CMQ.<strong>Obv:</strong> The same design that the Mint used to strike regular issue 1872 Liberty Seated silver dollars. <strong>Rev:</strong> The new Commercial dollar style, with an open laurel wreath surmounted by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Within the wreath is the denomination COMMERCIAL / DOLLAR, an expression of the metallic content 420 GRS. / 900 Fine and, in tiny letters on the ribbon binding the wreath, the motto GOD OUR TRUST. Dusted with sandy-silver and olive-russet iridescence, both sides reveal a universally reflective finish as well as champagne-gold and pale pink undertones as the coin dips into a light.<p>Patterns of this type are predecessors to the circulation strike trade dollar series of 1873 to 1878, which coins were intended to compete with the Mexican peso in the Far East more effectively than the Liberty Seated dollar.
