A superb example withsand-blast surfaces and perfect enameling on the obverse flags.Extremely rare, and common knowledge has only two recordedspecimens. If this piece is one of the two recorded examples, itis, by far, the finest known example.The Boxer Rebellion was a pro-nationalist movement in China between1898-1901, supported by the Dowager Empress Cixi, and declaring waron foreigners in China. An eight-nation alliance brought 20,000troops to China, defeated the Imperial army and captured Beijing,ending the uprising.
