China - Charms CHINA: AE charm (21.11g), CCH-1785, Thierry-118, 44mm, "Daoist curse charm", ci fu ya guai ("This Charm obliterates Evil") and Taoist magic script characters on either side // abkai hafasa hüturi isibumbi in Manchu script, VF. It is unusual to find Qing dynasty amulets or charms with Manchu inscriptions. The Manchu inscription is a direct translation of the Chinese "tian guan ci fu" (The Official of Heaven bestows good fortune). The "Official of Heaven" is one of three Daoist divinities that help mankind, collectively known as the "Three Official Divinities." This example was likely cast in the Qing Dynasty.
