FRANCE. Empire. Silver 100 Francs Module Essai (Pattern), 1807. Genoa Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS SPECIMEN-62.Maz-602a; Gad-1119.(b); T&T-1508.2. By Gerolamo Vassallo. Struck to commemorate the opening of the Genoa Mint. Obviously standing as a great RARITY, this pattern issue in silver presents the somewhat facing head of Napoléon, all while a high degree of gunmetal gray toning and brilliant luster augment its appeal. Some scattered hairlines are noted, but are rather commensurate with the overall level. A tremendous rendition of this Italian-produced type, with a full artists signature on the neck truncation, date on the reverse, and denomination lacking. To view all items from the Richard Margolis Collection, click here. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Western Stamp and Coin Co. on 23 November 1971 for $282.50).Ex: Hans Schulman (6/1971) Lot # 1959.
