1706-1790 Benjamin Franklin Portrait Galvano. Unsigned. Copper Shell. Extremely Fine.13 inches, portrait area, 14 inches including thin border, slightly irregular. A simple bust of Franklin left with life dates 1706 / 1790 in lower left field. The overall rough texture appears to be as made, to give this piece a rustic appearance, although a pair of scratches on Franklins cheek and a spot at the back of the chin are noted. As well, some light verdigris is nestled within the protected areas of the portrait, back also with verdigris in places. Soft, thin metallic composition with no hanger, single hole in border at 4 oclock for mounting.
