CANADA. Dominion of Canada. 1 Dollar, 1.7.1870. DC-2b. PMG Very Fine 20.Payable at Toronto. Small date. A moderately circulated example with strong eye appeal for the technical grade. This early type from the Dominion of Canada is typically seen in grades below Fine. At the Very Fine level, especially without negative remarks from the grading service, it is much scarcer. The PMG population report confirms that as this example is tied with three others as the highest grade for the variety. The notes payable at Toronto are most frequently encountered and are perfect for a type collection. Curiously, this has the highest serial number of all notes recorded in the Canadian Note Registry (2022 edition), which states that this piece appeared on eBay back in September 2016 and was graded Very Good, but also states that "grading appears to be quite conservative". We certainly agree with that statement, and it now is accurately graded at the Very Fine Level. Important opportunity for the Canadian specialist not to be missed.
