ISLAMIC KINGDOMS. Qalhati Amirs. Heavy Dinar, AH 68[1] (1282/83). Hormuz Mint. Sayf al-Din Nusrat Shah. NGC AU-58.A-1941.2 (RRR). Weight: 6.43 gms. One of the premier RARITIES of all Islamic coinage, this Dinar from Hormuz is offered with such infrequency as to make obtaining an example of this type a near impossibility. We count only one other example trading in recent years, a mere "VF" that reached a final hammer price of $14,000. This example is nicely struck, with essentially no signs of handling and weakness being limited to the lower peripheries. Brilliant luster uncoils from the surfaces, with no marking that attracts the eye. A gorgeous representative, and one for which we expect droves of collector interest, as Dinars from Sayf al-Din Nusrat Shah simply do not show up this nice.
