COLOMBIA, Bogotá, cob 8 reales, 1668 P.RS, rare, ex-Woodside. Restrepo-M62.4; S-B7a; KM-12; Cal-751. 25.44 grams. Small-flan AU with luster but also faint surface porosity in peripheries (probably from the Piedmont shipwreck of 1795), with very bold full pillars (the crowns especially well detailed), bold oNR in middle, clear assayer to left and date to right, the oversized shield also full but with some central weakness, lightly toned all over, kings name and ordinal off the edge but known to be Charles II (a much rarer type than Philip IV). Pedigreed to the Rob Woodside Collection.
