Superbe.Constantin II était le fils aîné de Constantin le Grand et de sa seconde épouse Fausta, né en 316. Constantin Ier, soucieux détablir sa propre dynastie, le créa César à lâge dun an. Ce médaillon est frappé pour son dixième anniversaire, ou décennale. Le jeune César regarde le ciel daprès un style utilisé pour la première fois par son père. Les médaillons ou multiples étaient des dons offerts par lEmpereur, voire dans notre cas par le jeune César lui-même à des personnalités de haut rang. En 327, Constantin II fut nommé commandant de la Gaule, remplaçant son demi-frère Crispus qui, avec Fausta, avait été déshonoré et mis à mort lannée précédente dans des circonstances peu claires

N / SMTS」RIC 166 (ベルリン, 同じ極印のもの) - C. 278 - Gnecchi I, 26, 22, pl.8/8 - Depeyrot (1995), p.154 = 当該品 ; Gold - 8,78 g - 26,5 mm - 12 h.来歴： Nelson Bunker Hunt collection, Sothebys New York (1990/6/21-22), n° 871NGC CH XF 5/5 3/5 marks. 現存わずか2枚！ もう一枚はベルリンにある博物館のコインキャビネットに収蔵 小さな複数のアタリとスクラッチ 裏面縁枠(リム)4時方向にごく細かな刻み痕 中央に配置された見事な肖像画 極美品コンスタンティヌス2世は316年、皇帝コンスタンティヌス1世とその2番目の妻ファウスタの間に長男として生まれました。自分の王朝を確立したいと考えた父は、息子が1歳の時に副帝(カエサル)に任命しました。このメダリオンは、10歳の誕生祝いあるいは10周年記念として製造されました。空を眺めるというスタイルは最初に父によって使われた図案で、若いカエサルもそれに倣い同じ図案にしています。メダリオンまたは倍数貨は贈り物として皇帝から与えられるものですが、当該品は若い副帝自らが位の高い重要人物へ贈ったものです。327年、コンスタンティヌス2世は異母兄弟クリスプスの後任としてガリアの司令官に任命されます。クリスプスはその前年、ファウスタとともに不名誉な扱いを受け、不透明な状況で処刑されました。

Minimal marks and scratches, and a tiny notch on the rim at 4 oclock on the reverse. Well-centered with a remarkable portrait. Extremely fine. Constantine II was the eldest son of Constantine the Great and his second wife Fausta, born in 316. Constantine I wanted to establish his own dynasty and granted his son the title of Caesar when he was only one year old. This medallion is struck for its tenth anniversary. Using a style first seen under the reign of his father, Young Caesar is looking at the sky. Medallions or multiples were gifts offered by the Emperor to high-ranking personalities. In our case, the medallion would have been offered by the young Caesar himself. In 326, his half-brother Crispus is disgraced and executed, as well as Fausta, under unclear circumstances. In 327, Constantine II was named commander of Gaul, replacing Crispus.
