This is another impressive Pei-Yang Colour Trial similar in design to the prior lot with an increasingly larger size, higher denomination and orange, yellow, and olive colours. This 3 Taels note boasts olive green dragons that face each other toward the top of the note. Between them in a porthole is a portrait of Li Hong Zhang, statesman, general and diplomat of the Qing dynasty. This note similar to the prior lot, and is fully uncirculated with the very faintest of minor spotting barely visible to the naked eye, and noticed only under extreme scrutiny hiding toward the edges of the note. A similar example recently sold for over $5000 but that example had a terrible off-center chop, and a missing piece at the bottom right. A unique opportunity for one of the most heavily collected Tientsin notes in a special color variation.
