1874 Nickel Three-Cent Piece. MS-66+ (PCGS). CAC. This beautiful premium Gem exhibits delicate toning in champagne-pink and powder blue that has a target-like distribution. The luster is full, the strike is sharp, and the eye appeal is strong in all regards. With a respectable (for the type) mintage of 790,000 pieces, the 1874 is one of the more readily obtainable circulation strike nickel three-cent pieces in an absolute sense. Precious few survivors can even approach the quality of the present example, however, and it is little wonder that this coin ranks among the finest certified for the issue at PCGS. Very low pop! PCGS# 3742. NGC ID: 2759. PCGS Population: 3; with a single MS-67 finer.
