1873 Two-Cent Piece. Close 3. Proof-64 RD (PCGS). Deep rose color with intermingled pale orange also very much in evidence. The surfaces are semi-reflective when viewed with the aid of direct lighting and offer full, razor sharp detail throughout the design. This issue is key to completion of a specialized two-cent collection, as the 1873 is a Proof-only coin that comes in two variants. The Close 3, offered here, is believed to be the original issue of the year, with a mintage estimated in current editions of the Guide Book to be 600 pieces. PCGS# 3653. NGC ID: 2753. From the Finger Lakes Collection.
