BOLIVIA. Cob 1/4 Real, ND (ca. 1574-76)-P R. Potosi Mint. Philip II. NGC EF-40. EMO-722 (Plate coin); KM-A1; Cal-106. Weight: 0.89 gms. Assayer Alonso Rincon. A terrific example of this earliest issuance from the Potosi mint. Both the mintmark and assayers initial appear sharp as they flank the rather bold central castle. The lion on the reverse is just as satisfying, and both sides display plenty of the outer legend due to the coins well-centered strike. RARE in this wholesome condition and quite enticing overall.
To view all items from the EMO Collection, click here. From the EMO Collection.

Ex: UBS Auction 20 (09/1988), Lot # 27 (with ticket).
