ARMENIA. Tigranes II (the Great) 95-56 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (15.76 gms), Tigranocerta Mint, ca. 80-68 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5. Flan Flaws. Kovacs-75.3; CAA-21; AC-33. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust right, wearing tiara decorated with star between two eagles; Reverse: Tyche of Antioch seated right on rock, holding laurel branch; below, river-god Orontes swimming right; all within wreath. Despite the noted flan flaws and some off-centering of strike upon each side, this example yields a pleasing strike and a great portrait of the king.
