1782 Frisian Recognition of American Independence Medal. Betts-602. Silver, 44.1 mm. MS-62 (PCGS).An attractive, popular, and historic medal, symbolizing the recognition of the new American nation by the Dutch state of Frisia. Blue, olive, and violet tones subtly emerge from deep silver gray surfaces. Reflective and lustrous on both sides, more attractive than typical specimens of this Betts number. Some truly trivial hairlines are seen, a couple of spots are noted with a glass, and a vertical scratch at the reverse rim near 8 oclock descends from D of DOOR. This is an especially pleasing specimen of one of the most notable medals from the days following the end of hostilities in the era of the American Revolution.<strong>To view supplemental information and all items from the Sydney F.
