Serial number G/78 11625. Purple, coastal village scene at lower right, arms upper centre, the reverse in same colour, animal cart. An extremely interesting pair of uniface proofs bearing the first date of issue and it is best to describe them as two distinct notes:Obverse: handwritten date 12/6/25 and C proof. The comment states to the effects of that the note is approved for colours on the other side subject to modification of the colours on the scroll work on the other side of the Royal Arms...etc. We can clearly see that colour of the scrolls on either side of the Royal on the issued note is purple, similar to the arms itself but it is obvious light blue on this note. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that this is the second to last proof made for the $10 and gives a good insight of how banknotes were designed in the past. The next and final proof will presumable say approved for colours. A unique note, given its purpose and significance. PMG 64 Printers Annotations, Staple Hole.Reverse: handwritten date 9 July, (presumably 1925) and original D proof. Comment approved in accordance with [CAS?] letter dated 9 July. This was the last proof note for the reverse side showing that either the Bank or Government officials have approved its design. A unique note, given its purpose and significance.
