Serving as the forerunner to the abundantly struck "memento" Dollars of the late 1920s, this Mint State stunner presents the iconic and rather caricatured bust of Sun Yat-sen along with seal script characters and floral scrolls on the obverse. Meant to commemorate the birth of the republic, these early issues are RARE and always desirable, especially in elevated states of preservation as with the coin presented here. Attractively toned, and with a great deal of shimmering brilliance remaining.
