1787 Machins Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 21-87C, W-7960. Rarity-6+. GEORGIVS III, Group III. VF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS). 111.3 grains. One of the great rarities in the Machins Mills series. Rich glossy dark chocolate-brown with strong details on both sides, better than most survivors of this extremely rare variety. The legends are complete on both sides, though by this late muling of reverse C the date is obscure and the tops of BRIT are weak. Some pitting is present on the portraits hair and under GEORG and is probably natural to the planchet, but the profile and portrait truncation remain sharp and unaffected. Two vertically oriented flaws are noted under Britannias olive branch, nick under E of REX. Overall the aesthetic appeal and the technical quality are good, though this piece would be desirable even if this were not the case. PCGS# 469. <strong>To view supplemental information and all items from the Sydney F.
