1795 Liberty Cap Cent. NC-3. Rarity-7+. Plain Edge. Fair-2 (PCGS). The extreme rarity of this die marriage means that any 1795 NC-3 cent represents an important find for specialized early copper variety collectors. The present example is heavily worn with portions of the design no longer evident, but much of the obverse portrait is outlined, the reverse denomination ONE CENT is fully legible, and portions of the wreath and legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are also discernible. Several areas exhibit a rough texture with dark crimson color due to corrosion, but other portions of the surfaces are smoother with lighter golden-brown patina. A few flecks of verdigris on both sides, as well as on the edge, are also mentioned for accuracy. There are only seven examples confirmed for this rare die pairing, the census for which reads 4-3-2-2-2-2-1. PCGS# 35735. NGC ID: 223T. To view all items from the Sandra Kay Collection of Sheldon Varieties, click<a href="https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/lots?sort=auction_date_lot_number_asc&search=From+the+Sandra+Kay+Collection+of+Sheldon+Varieties&limit=36&lots_range=upcoming/"target=’_blank’> here. From the Sandra Kay Collection of Sheldon Varieties.
