1793 Liberty Cap Cent. S-16. Rarity-6. Good-6 (PCGS). This obverse die evidently failed after a brief press run in the Sheldon-16 marriage, perhaps after fewer than 700 pieces were struck as estimated by Walter Breen; the reverse was subsequently used to coin S-13, S-14, and 1793 NC-6. The present example exhibits marbled golden and medium-brown patina to both sides, the obverse with blushes of ruby-red. Legible legends and a bold portrait and wreath are strong suits, as is a date that is partially discernible with patience. PCGS# 35498. NGC ID: 223L. To view all items from the Sandra Kay Collection of Sheldon Varieties, click<a href="https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/lots?sort=auction_date_lot_number_asc&search=From+the+Sandra+Kay+Collection+of+Sheldon+Varieties&limit=36&lots_range=upcoming/"target=’_blank’> here. From the Sandra Kay Collection of Sheldon Varieties.
