MEXICO. Oaxaca. War of Independence. Mint Error -- Flip Over Double Strike -- 8 Reales, 1813. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, EF Details. cf. KM-233.2. Though it may not come as a surprise given the crudeness of the issue, this error is definitively RARE and the first we have encountered for the type. A dramatic second strike rotated 90 degrees causes a clear date two appear on both sides, something quite remarkable to examine in hand. Rich charcoal brown surfaces reveal dusty tan patina around the devices, the noted tooling somewhat hard to discern under the color. Given the fast waxing popularity of modern Mexican mint errors, this vintage piece is sure to achieve substantial interest.
