1782 Land Deed for Property Sold by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to David Rittenhouse in Support of the Revolutionary Army. Parchment, 12.5 inches x 16.5 inches. Dated June 15th, 1782, and bearing the signatures of William Moore, President of Pennsylvania and T. Matlack, Jr. who was famous for his fine penmanship. Matlack produced the final clean copy of <em>The Declaration of Independence </em>on parchment; a neat connection. Very well preserved with a fantastic embossed seal of the State of Pennsylvania.<p>David Rittenhouse is famous to numismatists as the first mint director, though he was also an inventor and scientist and as this document shows, he was also a patriot concerned with the freedom of our young nation.
