1740/39-P Piedfort Sou Marque. Dijon Mint. Vlack-164, var. MS-62 (PCGS). 61.8 grains. 1.0 mm thick. Unlisted by Vlack, unrepresented in the Ford sale, although Mr. Ford had an unlisted piedfort Mousquetaire, 1710-D, that hammered for $14,000 in our (Stacks) January 2006 sale. The present coin is a very lovely light silver in color. There is some iridescent toning in the center of the obverse. The fields are bright, shiny, and have some reflectivity. Clearly, this is a coin for another really advanced collection. One noticeable reverse flan flaw at the left upright of the central L. PCGS# 919591.
