Obverse: Partially-draped female allegory standing and facing, three youths offering the fruits of their horticultural labors, exergue below; Reverse: Four-line legend in central field, beaded inner border, perimeter legend between beaded border and rim. The obverse dates from the early 1870s for a French horticultural award medal. Forrer notes that "Among the modern French medalists ... Borrel holds a place of honor both for the technical beauty of his work and the rare grace of his conceptions.
